Please Mr, Ms and Mrs Architect,
Kindly take up your rights to freedom of expression.
Can’t you see that the small island is turning bland without your say in aesthetics?
Why are you stifling your own ideas and succumbing so easily to others?
Who says practicality is first?
Haven’t you heard that creativity is second to none?
Look around you,
Just how many built forms in this small country can you claim to be truly ours?
The count remains low but will you attempt to increase the number?
Please Mr, Ms and Mrs Architect,
Don’t hide behind the scenes anymore.
Reveal to us your place in the small but optimistic sea of local architecture.
Thanks thanks I guess the ranting is too contextualized or maybe its too abstract on the whole. But well... its just a complaint of how sg architects and architects-to-be are constraining themselves in their ideas. they rather do something 'safe' than take the risk of failure in trying something new. And 'safe' is boring. But that's the general trend of non-risk-taking here.
^___^ that's really true. By doing what is not risky, they just stick to being plain and not daring. They should loosen up and remove the stickfromtheirasses lol. Beat the trend, Lav!
The problem is i'm frustrated, because i'm also falling into that trend. Which is why i kinda dread school here, the whole education system is encompassing that mentality. You see, because its so competitive here, you aren't given a second chance if you fail. So failing is never an option, so in another words, taking risks in not an option too.
Honestly, this one blew me away. The way you used the colors changing across it, but didn't let them take over the piece. Slightly building shapes in the background adds to the architecture theme too.
That why its only the foolishly brave and the rich will climb to the top here The rest will just be working our ass off for something we don't exactly full heartedly believe in.
A continuation of my unexpectedly-popular guide on Mary Sue prevention. Feedback and support is completely welcomed! Thank you all for your support so far.
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
